Why is a Healthy Skin Microbiome So Important

Posted by Bio-First Team on

Like other parts of the body, our skin needs a lovely and diverse selection of friendly flora to maintain healthy function and good appearance.

Mostly these come from the inside but what we put on our skin can have dramatic effects on its microbiome as well.

Imbalance is usually associate with chronic skin conditions

For example skin conditions like Eczema, Psoriasis and Rosacea are all associated with microbiome imbalance, whether as cause or affect.

There’s been a recent mini explosion of research into topical probiotics for healthy skin microbiome, with findings that diversity is super-important and here at Bio-First we agree with the conclusions.

Our skin has its own ecosystem to help it remain hydrated with a favourable pH and active defences.

When our skin’s ecosystem and microbiome is under pressure or unbalanced the consequences can be severe and may include aged appearance, skin infections and disorders, reactive skin, redness and acne. Not a good look…

How can I help my skin’s microbiome?

What can really help is topical application of multi-strain probiotics and Papaya, or even better Papaya Bio-Fermented with several probiotics, as is found in our UltraSensitive Skin Rescue Lotion, which also has Colloidal Oatmeal to improve skin microbiome composition.
